No, we don’t know what we just ordered either…

Part of the joy of this adventure is trying new things, especially when we don’t know what they are. Turns out that this was lightly spiced shredded Chicken with cream cheese in puff pastry, looks like the Sloth pasty will have to wait!

We think the real culinary adventure will begin in South America – Bat on toast, Iguana on a stick, mouth popping Crickets, Sloth brains, Guinea Pig kebab?

Actually, the reason I am writing this post is connected to Sloth pasties, in so much that the sighting of a Sloth has so far eluded us. Rebecca and I have sadly come to the conclusion that, not unlike Unicorns, Vampires and indeed Kingfishers, Sloths are imaginary creatures!

So this has forced us to move to Quepos, to visit the Manuel Antonio National Park, where we are apparently ‘guaranteed’ to see one.

I feel however, that the next few days will indeed confirm our hypothesis (sorry Holly!)

Stay tuned for more ‘dramatic’ developments…

Rebecca & Richard here

After a slightly crazy suggestion by me in the pub just after we bought our first house about 5 years ago that we should ‘just quit everything and go travelling for a year’ we got a bit more realistic (not least because of COVID) and eventually landed on 4 1/2 months in Central and South America. This website is the outcome of those musings down the pub and hopefully our ensuing adventures!
