A few days ago we were in Drake Bay and took a visit to Corcovado National Park, something that had been a bit of a ‘must do’ on my list for visiting Costa Rica, being labelled as ‘the most biodiverse place on the planet’ apparently.
Funny though how I often find that ‘must do’s’ don’t quite live up to expectations! Don’t get me wrong, it clearly is a special place and we did see a myriad of animals in a much more authentic environment than, say, Manuel Antonio national park. However, neither of us are really ‘guided tour’ kind of people (and the only way to get entry to Corcovado is via just that) and getting utterly soaked to the skin on the boat ride there didn’t help!
Nonetheless, I’m really glad that Corcovado drew us to Drake Bay, because, despite the almost unbearable humidity (have we mentioned the humidity in Costa Rica before?!), which reached new levels, it was great to get properly off the beaten track in Costa Rica and visit an area that relatively few tourists go to. And the scenery and wildlife were pretty amazing. So here’s a few snaps of our trip to Drake Bay…
