After Isabela, we got the ferry to San Cristobal for our last stop on the Galapagos Islands.
I’d read that Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the main town on the island was a bit of a middle ground between the brashness of Puerto Ayora and the quiet of Puerto Villamil; what I hadn’t read was that it is also home to a huge population of Sea Lions.
When we docked, before even getting to the land end of the pier we’d seen (and heard) several Sea Lions. However, this was just the start. The more we pootled along the sea front, the more we saw….

And the more we saw, the more we realised how much they really will flop anywhere that takes their fancy for a snooze!

It turns out they also love to play; with each other and with you if you’re in the water! It was amazing to be snorkeling and have them come up underwater inquisitively and whizz around us. Whilst we don’t have any images of being in the water with them, here’s a little video of them playing on one of the piers as we waited to get on the boat.
