Cloud Forest…but without the clouds

Looking forward to an interesting experience at the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Getting there as early as we could, nature decided to put a spanner in the works and forgo the rain and clouds, clearly nature didn’t get our memo!

We still had a great time, the flora and fauna are amazing. While still no sign of the elusive Sloth, there were still plenty of crazy, exotic plants, insects, birds… and even a squirrel!

It’s not as hot here as La Fortuna, but the heat and humidity still pack a punch.

Our visit here is all to brief as the the coast, specifically Montezuma, is calling, a mere 6 hours away on some of the worst roads in the world (probably), in a mini bus with dubious suspension, and even more dubious air conditioning. Not sure how much more glamorous our adventure can become?

Rebecca & Richard here

After a slightly crazy suggestion by me in the pub just after we bought our first house about 5 years ago that we should ‘just quit everything and go travelling for a year’ we got a bit more realistic (not least because of COVID) and eventually landed on 4 1/2 months in Central and South America. This website is the outcome of those musings down the pub and hopefully our ensuing adventures!
